The Annual Film London Jarman Award has been launched this year (2008) and is supported by Arts Council England and presented by Film London in partnership with Channel 4 and the Whitechapel Gallery. It supports and acknowledges emerging filmmakers working with experimentation, imagination and innovation. The Annual cash prize is £10,000 and is given to one of the ten shortlisted artists. The Award is inspired by Derek Jarman.
Luke Fowler was the winner of the first Jarman Award presented at the Serpentine Gallery. He received £20,000, co-sponsored by Film London and More4, in partnership with the Serpentine Gallery and a commission to produce four short films for 3 Minute Wonder , Channel 4’s documentary short strands.
